 ARTISTS STATEMENT

For some time now I have been mistreating clay. I am fascinated with the possibilities produced by laminating different clay bodies and coloured slips together to form a chunky slab. This slab is then stretched and slashed to produce the surface pattern on a thinner slab from which the work is constructed. Other work is produced using an agateware technique. The piece is then fired with the surface unglazed because I don't want to obscure the detail I have worked hard to achieve.
